Whirligig

Whirligig is an epic novel by Paul Fleischman. It was published by Dell Laurel-Leaf publishers in 1998, and there are 133 pages.
Brent Bishop, 17, was a new teenager in town and he had been invited to a party. He had dreamed about Brianna, the most popular girl in school, clinging to his arms. But when Brianna pleaded him at the party with all of his schoolmates that he should stop irritating her, his faith was shattered. After his embarrassment, Brent tried to end his misery in a car crash, however he ended up murdering an innocent girl, Lea. Lea Zamora, 18, was a very strong and kind girl. Everybody’s face lit up when they saw her.
When Lea’s mother learned that her daughter had passed away, she had to live with it. But she asked Brent to do only one thing for her. To make four whirligigs. Not only was he asked to do that but he also must put all four of them in each corner of the United States. Lea’s mother believed that the whirligigs will bring joy and happiness to people just like it did to Lea. Lea’s mother thought that if Brent does that then it will keep Lea’s spirit breathing.
As time goes by Brent went to the corners of the United States and made the whirligigs. On his journey Brent begins to realize how the whirligigs make people come together and how they affect each other in different ways.
